The music video for “Chance” by the artist dudipadi portrays the wanderings of Dudinha — the protagonist and singer of the song — through the universe of her amulets, objects filled with memories, like a dive into her own mind while performing a ritual. The narrative was built during the very process of making the stop-motion animation, where existential questions were proposed and explored, such as: “What if, instead of wearing your earring, it wore you?” or “What if you were swallowed by your notebook?” or even “What color is emptiness to you?” During the low-budget project, more than 1,500 paper Dudinhas were printed and animated using a scanner and a cellphone, interacting with the artist’s own personal objects. Just as the video proposes a sensitive experimentation with the experience of performing a ritual — where inner worlds can be accessed — this same process takes place in the act of producing stop motion itself, through a hypnotic choreography of hands that shift objects in millimetric movements until something inanimate comes to life.
