Forest of nocturnal images
video installation
The installation Forest of nocturnal images is the result of my master's degree research on the subject: The figurability of dream memories through cinematographic mise-en-scène. The research seeks to outline an image creation methodology based on the self-registration of dream narratives, through a proposition I call the Dream Matrix. The Matrix is an exercise to be carried out upon waking up and consists of a table that repertoires different visual and sensitive aspects of the dream, through categories such as lighting, sound, color, sensation, perspective, rhythm - categories that are also used in the analysis of a film. The tool was applied to the creation of three videos, which are presented through an installation: 1. the return of the fireflies, 2. tornado in the amusement park, 3. contrary to what you think this dream is actually mine. During the process of creating each video, they were confronted with the works of different artists, bringing up questions of image that helped me to think about various elements linked to both the practice and exhibition of videography in the context of contemporary art.
